AND PARKS
San
Francisco Botanical Garden
The mission of the San Francisco Botanical Garden
is to create, sustain, and interpret a distinct, documented collection
of Mediterranean, mild temperate and tropical cloud-forest plants
displayed in designed gardens and habitats, and to provide a place
of exceptional beauty and natural sanctuary.
Conservatory
of Flowers
Spectacular museum of living plants, immersive
displays in five galleries engage visitors physically, intellectually
and emotionally. These splendid displays not only delight, but deliver
a moving message about the rapid changes in tropical habitats worldwide
and efforts currently underway to conserve these special places.
Blake
Garden
The University of California Blake Garden is
a 10.6 acre garden used as a teaching facility for the Department
of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning and is the
location of Blake House, the official residence of the President
of the University of California. Blake Garden is located four miles
north of the Berkeley campus in the town of Kensington.
San
Francisco Parks Trust
Formerly known as Friends of Recreation & Parks and founded
in 1971, they provide leadership and support for San Francisco parks,
recreation centers, and open spaces, such as the Japanese Tea Garden.
The
Gardens of Hearst Castle
William Randolph Hearst wanted a garden that displayed a profusion
of blooms throughout the year. Plant species that bloom during each
of the different seasons were selected for the beds, and colors
abound in the gardens throughout the year.
